UL document over a drum and UL certificate

UL is the brand used by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to certify the compliance of products with safety regulations in the U.S. and Canada.

These products are tested to ensure their suitability against potential risks such as fire, electric shocks, and mechanical hazards. Even small modifications made to the product’s packaging could alter the final quality of the product.

This is why only companies that meet the strictest standards have the ability to cut cables intended for the industrial sector. UL requires that the traceability of the product and the original manufacturing processes of the certified cables, in accordance with American regulations, be guaranteed.

The marking on the cable's outer sheath is not sufficient to meet these requirements. Therefore, UL mandates that a certification label must always be attached to the cable’s original reel.

UL labels and certificate

If the cable is rewound into smaller quantities, each and every reel made from the original cable reel must maintain traceability information through special certification labels.

This process is referred to by UL as "Processed Wire Respooled" and follows a specific certification within UL’s online database, which requires the implementation of strict control procedures.

URKUNDE holds this certification, authorizing it to supply cables in compliance with UL requirements in various types and reel sizes, ensuring full traceability of the delivered product. The cables are provided with their corresponding certificate and official seals, guaranteeing compliance with UL standards for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

The official "Processed Wire" and "Processed Wire for Canada" certificates for UL Listed cables, as well as "Processed Wire – Component" and "Processed Wire for Canada – Component" certificates for UL Recognized cables, are available on UL’s website under File Number E511554.
